Last day of Ball Season

Last day of ball season today, unless they do tournaments (blah, blah, blah). It was a long day (one game at 4, another at 6) but it was also great to be out of the house with the kids. It was gloomy but it didn’t rain on us while we were there and that was much better than the unbearable sun beating down on us. So want to hear the cutest little thing? My son can talk of nothing but his ©cutie pie little girlfriend© and I have it on authority that she feels the same way. So they are both at the ball field today and neither one of them will speak to each other. I love young kids in love it’s just so cute. They did finally talk to each other, it just took some prodding. I love that my kids are growing up and no longer need constant attention. I can remember what it was like to go to these things when they were all small and just starting to play. Oh now that was misery glorious. I don’t understand parents who want to keep their kids small, I’m excited to see mine grow up and to see what kind of adults they become.

71 days till school starts!

Young Love

I’m looking for some suggestions here. How do you teach your kids to see the truth behind how people act? If you try to tell them you only get the "Oh Mom, you just don’t get it" look or speech. So how do you make them realize? I feel like I have made progress at times and then all of the sudden I realize I haven’t. Why are kids so open to letting other kids manipulate and use them? I suppose it is the need to feel important and wanted.
Audrey has hit that age where the guys are willing to say and do anything to get what they want. The ones that are her age are not all that smooth at it and have yet to figure out what a girl wants to hear. The older ones on the other hand, have it all figured out. How do I teach her this? I just keep hitting a wall. At the moment I have decided to just keep my mouth shut and let her learn for herself. We keep a close reign on her so she can’t get by with too much. I can’t help but think about what all I did get by with on the bus and at school though.
Jo is just completely oblivious to the things that girls are capable of. Of course that remains true for men most of their lives so maybe this is a losing battle. He is so crazy about this one little girl though but he just can’t see through all of the things that the rest of the girls are doing to keep her from him. Girls are so mean to each other some times. I don’t think she sees it either. It’s so easy for me to spot the truth and see the differences but that’s something that comes with experience I suppose. He has a new little girlfriend, not the one he’s crazy about but the one that tried hard to break them up. Hello! Am I the only one that can see that? And the one that he is crazy about and that I would guess is still crazy about him should pay attention to the small things. He hasn’t moved her to the top of his Myspace or changed his name on there. He doesn’t ever talk to her on the phone and they aren’t friends and don’t like each other in general. How do kids miss these things? Why is it not obvious to them? I guess at that age all feelings override any common sense.
I just want my kids to be happy but there is this thing inside of me that just wants to shake them and say "Wake up; things are not what they seem". Young love can be so sweet but getting to that point is tough

My Sweet Valentine

We have been married for 15 years now (as of Nov.21st) and I must say Mike is not a great present buyer. Usually I just get myself something and occasionally he will tell me what he wants to get me and I pick it out. I had already told him what I wanted for Valentines Day so when he said "I want to tell you what I want to get you for Valentines Day and you help me pick it out" I was all prepared to get defensive. I reminded him of what I wanted and he said that's okay we are on the same page. He explained to me what he wanted to get and I was flattered that he had come up with that much on his own. He had really put some thought into it. So we picked it out and got it Sunday but can't pick it up until today. I am so pleased and amazed that it's no big deal that I didn't get it on that day. So want to know the rest? Okay. All I wanted was a wedding band; I have bent mine up pretty badly and can't really wear it anymore. He said that he had really been trying to figure out exactly what to get me and he had an idea but he wasn't sure if they really made them. He wanted to get me a ring to represent our past, present and future. He said it had to have 3 diamonds, one for each thing. I personally had no idea that they made such a thing but everywhere we went they had sections for this (don't laugh I'm not a jewelry person, it's not something I look at all the time, I had no idea). Then we finally found the perfect one, exactly what he explained. 3 diamonds and it even has "Past, Present and Future" engraved on the inside of the band with diamonds in between. I love this ring and like I said I'm not a jewelry person. More than that though I love this man!!! Things aren't always perfect and like I said he isn't great at buying presents and he doesn't do surprises but I know that he truly loves me. The fact that he put so much thought into this really impressed me and touched my heart.

One of the possible rants I mentioned.

I am apparently experiencing a huge pet peeve moment today. It has bothered me for a while but it is eating at me today. How do people become so rude and crude? What has happen to our feelings of loyalty and our commitment to family and friends? Admittedly I am not anywhere close to perfect, I am horrible with people but it is because I am so bashful not because I have no morals. Yes, I have made my mistakes and had my moments where my judgment lapsed but not on a daily basis. How do you turn your back on people that you have claimed to love and treat them with complete disrespect? How do you look at someone that you know is hurting or in need and not care? Is there no decency left in your heart? I understand if a person has hurt you or put you in a place you didn't need to be repeatedly that you may need to cut them out of your life but you can do that without running your mouth or just flat out being disrespectful (trust me I've had to do it). If they were truly in need though I would still be there for them. Why do we have to be so critical of each other? There are things that I understand it may be hard to live with but we are so quick anymore to say that we can't live with someone over the pettiest things. So quick to say I hate that person because they do this or that. When really those are not that big of a deal and we know it. Why can't we just give each other a little leniency and a little respect? Is it really that difficult to just turn the other cheek and let it go? It isn't that hard, it is possible; we are just all so selfish and self-involved that we don't feel the need to. As a last note there is one more thing worth saying, you can kill love but it is not as easy as some people like to pretend. You can not just turn it off, it's still in there and everyone knows it and every mean thing you do just proves it!!!!

Sometimes you've got to wonder.....?

Sometimes you've got to wonder if people are really as oblivious as they seem to the ways that they affect other people. Do you really not know that the things you say can hurt other people, make them feel unloved or even change their lives forever? I know that I was raised to understand that my words not just my actions had consequences. As Christians we are not suppose to push people further down, we are suppose to lift them up!! How do so many Christians miss this part of God's teachings? Yet still wonder why Christians have such a bad reputation and why they can't get people to come to church. They are ruining not only their witness but also the witness of those they are talking about. Truth or lies, you have still made the person you were talking to have doubts about the person you were talking about. Another thing, does anyone really still believe that around here you can talk about someone without it getting back to them? Please tell me you aren't that stupid. Ohh…. You wanted me to know didn't you? Now that makes sense. Well congrats!! It worked. If I had any doubts that I was doing the wrong thing they are now gone. Thank You for making me see clearly. Love is the center of all of God's teachings. We must love one another; you accuse us of not having love in our hearts but tell me WHERE IS YOUR LOVE?? Do you really have any idea what happened? No, you know one side of it, the side you have chosen to accept as the gospel. You don't know the history or the circumstances; you don't know the reasoning behind what we did. Why don't you? We kept our mouths shut, as everyone involved should have. When you have things to cover up though you need to make sure your side is heard and believed. You need to make sure that the other side is not believed if it ever does come out. Are you not mature enough as Christians to see that trap, to see when you are being manipulated or to feel the spirit of God? It truly breaks my heart to know that something I have worked so hard at all of my life can be taken away so easily. Sometimes you've got to wonder if people really even care.
